Founder and Principal

Phil Rourk, Managing Director of Washington International Finance Corporation, is an economist and financial strategist with over 30 years' experience in a variety of project, sectoral and macroeconomic contexts in both developed and developing countries.  He has worked in over 30 countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States on assignments ranging from personal economic advisory services to the Finance Minister of a South American country on IMF, Paris Club, and commercial bank debt restructuring negotiations, to the preparation of a comprehensive energy sector investment plan for rapidly growing Southeast Asian economy, and the development of IFC financing for the first private container port facility to operate in the Panama Canal Zone.

Jean-Pierre Schwartz
Founder and Principal

Jean Pierre is an industrial engineer and investment banker with over thirty years of international experience. His work has focused particularly on the USA, Latin America and Europe. Prior to founding the Washington Trade and Investment Group in 1986, his career has included a 15-year period at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, where he was a  Senior Investment Officer and later Division Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining the IFC, he was a Senior Consultant at PA Management Consultants in Paris, France. He has successfully led teams that have mobilized hundreds of millions of dollars for client projects, principally in Central and South America.
